Henley Academic Profiling Assessment

The Henley Academic Profiling Assessment (HAPA) has been created to provide a comprehensive aptitude evaluation of academic skills for children aged between six and sixteen. It is the result of collaboration between experts in assessment, former heads of schools, and educationalists, using the highest quality teacher-written test questions and adaptive technology (Atom Learning).

Why is the HAPA so valuable?

  • The HAPA will give you a better understanding of your child’s academic profile
  • It benchmarks your child with students from UK private schools, effectively providing a clear idea of how they are achieving in relation to their peers
  • It can be used to demonstrate their performance to future schools
  • It can help monitor your child’s academic progress, and identify strengths as well as any areas for development that they may need to focus on
  • It can guide the selection of future schools and universities

Essential information

The HAPA is accessed online and the whole assessment can be completed in less than two hours. Children aged six to nine require about 75 minutes to complete the assessment, whereas children aged ten to thirteen will take about 90 minutes, and children aged fourteen to sixteen can be expected to complete the assessment in two hours.

There are four sections to the HAPA:

  1. English
  2. Maths
  3. Verbal reasoning
  4. Non-verbal reasoning

Assessment features

  • Fully adaptive assessmentsQuestion difficulty adapts to your child’s ability
  • Standardized scores: Age-related results demonstrate your child’s performance in relation to other international students of their age
  • Delivered at home: Your child can complete the HAPA on their own computer or laptop at a time that suits them, and they can take breaks between the different sections if needed
  • Extensive reporting: Clear and comprehensive results are produced within 24 hours of your child completing the assessment

The report is followed by a feedback session with an expert HAPA advisor. As former head teachers or senior leaders in UK schools, they understand assessment and will discuss the results with you. Your HAPA advisor will not only consider your child’s current academic position, but they may also provide advice on the next appropriate steps. These could include how to approach your child’s current school for further support, how to find the right tutor using our team’s extensive network, and how to look at a range of other academic and schooling options if appropriate.

The HAPA is a fully adaptive, online assessment for children aged six–sixteen years old. It covers mathematics, English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning and provides standardized scores benchmarked against UK independent school students. The assessment can be accessed online, at home, and takes between 75–120 minutes. The scores assess a candidate’s results in relation to their international peers. The results provide a snapshot of a child’s academic ability at the time of the assessment. Clear and comprehensive results are shared within five days via a dedicated report and feedback session with an expert HAPA advisor.

Henley & Partners Education is a standalone, premium service providing impartial, bespoke, and child-focused admissions counselling for transnational families. As educators, we use our impartiality to ensure that your child is accepted at a school or university where they can thrive. We use data from the HAPA to match children to the right schools and universities.

Henley & Partners Education Services came from discussions we had with clients who were increasingly pursuing investment migration with the aim to secure global opportunities for their children. We are the only education services provider who can offer solutions that enable students to graduate with both a degree and residence or citizenship, thus allowing them access to opportunities that a degree alone would not guarantee.

We consider a range of factors, including academic performance, extracurricular interests, language skills, and long-term goals. The Henley Academic Assessment (HAPA) helps us objectively evaluate your child’s strengths and match them with institutions where they are most likely to excel.

The timeline varies depending on the individual needs of the family and the application deadlines of schools and universities. However, the process generally begins with the HAPA assessment and concludes with confirmed placements, which may take several months.
